Disneyland Park, California

On Saturday we spent the day at Disneyland - the happiest place on earth.  It was a long day but it was so much fun.  I haven't been to Disneyland since 1987.  My niece doesn't understand how it has been so long.

Disneyland Park is in Anaheim, California.  The park opened on July 17, 1955.  Since the grand opening, more than 600 million people have visited the theme park.

Well, a few things have changed since I last visited the Magic Kingdom.  First of all, they have opened a second park.  Disney California Adventure opened in June 1998.  The 67 acre (27 ha) park is a lot of fun and with better roller coasters, which my niece me dragged on.  It also has the new Cars Land which my nephew just loved.

The big shock was the ticket price.  In 1987, a single day ticket to Disneyland was $21.50.  And there was a small discount if you had a driver's license from Southern California.  Those days are long gone.  Today, a ticket to Disneyland is $87.  For children ages 3 to 9, then it is only $81.  Good grief!!

Since we were going to both parks, we needed the one-day park hopper ticket which cost $125.  There were 6 of us.  The ticket price just covers admission to the park(s).  Sooner or later you will want something to eat or drink, and don't forget about the souvenirs.  I don't see how the average family does it.  Fortunately, my sister and brother-in-law have a friend who works there and scored us passes and a discount so all of us got in for only $100.
